What Your Client Can Do With Your Proposal

Your client doesn’t need a Nusii account, a password or an app to review your proposal. They open the link, read it, pick the options they want and accept it with their signature, all in the browser on their phone, tablet or computer.

This guide walks through every step from your client’s side, and what you see in Nusii when they take it. It’s written so you can also share it with a client who wants to know how it works.

Opening the proposal

Your client gets a link in the email you send from Nusii, or you can share the link yourself. If you’ve set up a custom domain, the link uses your own domain.

Your client can only accept a proposal once it has been sent. A proposal that’s still a Draft shows no “Accept This Proposal” button. See Sending a Proposal Manually if you’d rather send the link from your own email.

Choosing options

If your proposal includes optional prices, your client picks the ones they want:

  • An optional section is marked “(Optional)” and has a “Select this price option” checkbox.
  • An optional line item has a “Select this option” checkbox.

The totals update as they choose. If every priced section is optional, your client has to select at least one before accepting, otherwise they see “There are no price options selected”. Learn how to set this up in Optional Pricing and Optional Line Items.

Accepting and signing

  1. Your client clicks “Accept This Proposal” at the top of the page.
  2. They type their name under “Please fill out your full name”. Their typed name becomes their signature, or they can click “Or draw it yourself” to draw one. If you’ve turned on “Force signature”, they’re asked to draw it: “Please draw your signature below”.
  3. They can leave you a message.
  4. They click “Accept this proposal”.

They then see a “Thank you for signing!” page with a “Download PDF” button for their signed copy. The proposal now shows who signed it and when, and your client can open the same link any time to download the signed PDF again.

Need more than one person to sign? Each signer accepts in the same way. See How to get a proposal signed with multiple signatures.

Paying a deposit

If you’ve connected Stripe and asked for a payment, your client goes straight from signing to a payment page that shows the amount, with a “Pay with Stripe” button. If they close it, a “Pay This Proposal” button stays at the top of the proposal so they can pay later.

Rejecting, asking a question or saving a PDF

Next to the Accept button, “Other Actions” gives your client three more choices:

  • Reject Proposal: they can leave a message explaining why. The proposal moves to Rejected.
  • Request More Information: they type their question and you get it by email. The proposal moves to Clarification, and your client can still accept it later.
  • Save as PDF: downloads a PDF of the proposal with the options they’ve selected.

Once a proposal is accepted, rejecting it or asking for more information is no longer possible. Your client sees “Proposal is already accepted” instead.

If a client rejects and then changes their mind, click “(Manually change state)” on the Proposal Overview and choose “Sent and Pending”. Your client can then accept it.

What you see for each step

Choose which of these emails you get in Notifications and Follow-up Reminders. Any message your client leaves is in the email and behind “view info” in the activity feed.

After your client accepts

  • The proposal is locked. What your client signed can’t change. If you need to edit it, see Editing an Accepted Proposal.
  • A thank-you email. If you’ve turned on the “Thank You Email” under Settings / Email Templates, your client gets it right after signing, with the proposal attached as a PDF if you ticked “Include proposal as a PDF”.
  • Expired: once the expiry date has passed, a proposal that isn’t accepted shows “This proposal has expired” and your email address instead of the content. Move the expiry date to open it again. Accepted proposals stay visible.
  • Archived: an archived proposal shows “This proposal has been archived”.
  • Deleted: your client sees “It appears your proposal has been moved or deleted.”
