Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and Recovery Codes

Two-factor authentication adds a second step to your login. After your email and password, Nusii asks for a six-digit code from an app on your phone. Even if someone gets hold of your password, they can’t sign in without your phone.

2FA is set up per user, so every team member can (and should) turn it on for their own login. It takes about two minutes.

Set up 2FA

  1. Go to Settings › User Profile.
  2. Under Two factor authentication, click Set up 2FA here.
  3. Get an authenticator app. If you don’t have one yet, install a free app such as Authy, Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator from the App Store or Google Play.
  4. Scan the QR code. Open the app, tap Scan QR code or +, and point your phone’s camera at the QR code on the page.
  5. Enter the code. The app now shows a six-digit code for Nusii. Type it in the field below the QR code and click Verify and activate.

That’s it, 2FA is on. Nusii shows you your recovery codes next.

Save your recovery codes

Recovery codes are your way back into your account if you lose your phone or can’t use your authenticator app. You get 10 of them, and each one works once.

Right after you turn on 2FA, Nusii shows the codes on screen. This is the only time they’re shown on screen, so save them now:

  1. Click Copy all codes and paste them into a password manager, or write them down and keep them somewhere safe.
  2. Tick I have saved my codes somewhere safe.
  3. Click the button below it to go back to Settings.

We also email the codes to you, with the subject Your Nusii recovery codes. Keep that email somewhere safe too, or delete it once you’ve stored the codes.

Sign in with 2FA

  1. Go to app.nusii.com and log in with your email address and password as usual.
  2. On the Two-Factor Authentication screen, open your authenticator app and type the six-digit Security code.
  3. Click Verify.

Codes change every 30 seconds, so type the one your app shows right now. If you wait too long on this screen, Nusii asks you to enter your password again.

Use a recovery code

Don’t have your phone with you? On the Two-Factor Authentication screen, click the link under Don’t have your phone?. Enter one of your recovery codes in the Recovery code field and click Continue.

Each code works only once. Cross it off your list after you use it.

Get new recovery codes

Used a few codes, lost your list, or worried someone else has seen it? Generate a new set on the recovery codes page (you need to be logged in). The page also shows how many unused codes you have left.

Click Generate new recovery codes. Your old codes stop working right away, so save the new ones the same way as before.

Move 2FA to a new phone

Got a new phone or want to use a different authenticator app?

  1. Go to Settings › User Profile and click Manage your 2FA setup here.
  2. Click Yes, replace my 2FA setup. Your current setup and recovery codes stop working.
  3. Scan the new QR code with your new phone and click Verify and activate.
  4. Save your new recovery codes.

Do this while you still have your old phone, and finish all the steps in one go. Until you scan the new code, your account signs in with only your email and password.

Lost your phone and your recovery codes?

If you can’t get a code from your app and you don’t have a recovery code (check your inbox for Your Nusii recovery codes), email us at support@nusii.com from your login email address. We’ll verify it’s you and turn off 2FA on your account so you can sign in and set it up again.
